Floating Farmers Market Event Planner-Manager

(Lake Union Park Seattle)

The Lake Union Floating Farmers Market is seeking an experienced partner to help develop and manage a unique and intimate farmers market event aboard the historic steamship Virginia V moored at Lake Union Park. We are starting our third season and we are looking for a qualified event planner/market manager/promotor who would enjoy building a one-of-a-kind attraction for the City of Seattle.

Job Requirements:

* Fund Raising through Sponsorship Sales

* Social Networking

* Kick-off Event Planning

* Inviting, approving and organizing vendors.

* Managing weekly set-up and take-down.

* Collecting vendor fees.

* Monitoring food products in accordance with county regulations.

* Participating in market promotions.

* Coordinating Volunteers.

* Building and maintaining an "old-world" market theme.

* And lots more.

This is a unique opportunity to be on the ground floor of a potentially high profile city attraction. This market has already had coverage in Sunset Magazine and is bound to attract more press as the market builds up.

We are specifically looking for someone with entrepreneurial skills and knowledge of public farmers market operations. This is not an assistant job, this will be your market to run. Your compensation will be based on your performance. If you are just looking for a paycheck, this is not the job for you. This will be a joint venture relationship with an event planner/organizer/manager not an employee-employer relationship. The ideal candidate will have lots of event production experience and great ideas to bring to the table. There will be a bunch of work upfront before the seasonal revenues begin. So if you are in need of immediate pay, this is not the job for you.

The Floating Market runs from 11:00-3:00 on Thursdays from May through October. The Virginia V is a 125' historic vessel built in 1922 to haul farm produce from Vashion Island to the Pike Place Market. She has been fully restored with her original working steam engine.

It is best that you live near downtown Seattle where you have easy access to the location.
