Seeking Maritime Professional to Head Seattle Waterfront Non-Profit

The Urban Public Waterfront Association (UPWA.org) is seeking a director to help build an organization that works to increase meaningful public access to the maritime environment by encouraging the development of municipal docks for small vessels.

Our flagship campaign is to promote the development of a public Mediterranean style boat harbor on Seattle's Pioneer Square waterfront using a couple sections of the old 520 floating bridge as a breakwater and floating promenade (RecycleTheBridge.org).

Our campaign involves outreach to the general public, Seattle downtown businesses and maritime organizations.

Our funding is derived from sponsorship activity so compensation is directly linked to the revenue generated.

We are seeking someone who has experience in the maritime industry or that is aware of the maritime environment on Puget Sound. UPWA is a startup organization with lots of opportunity for growth. The ideal candidate is an out-going, well-organized team player with great people and networking skills. Retired maritime industry professionals, maritime historians and those who have a love of recreational boating in the Seattle Area will receive special attention.

Compensation for this position is dependent on your success as a fund raiser.

Please send a resume and cover letter in response to this post.

The FarmBoat Floating Market aboard the Virginia V at Lake Union Park is closed due to City of Seattle adverse policies against small businesses. For more information, see "FarmBoat Under Siege."
