FarmBoat Youth Programs

Inspiring sustainable stewardship for maritime heritage is not half as important as instilling life-sustaining knowledge in our youth. FarmBoat is working to develop a number of youth programs through our affiliate maritime heritage organizations to fulfill this mission.

Healthy Active Kids Will Create a Bright and Sustainable Future

Childhood obesity is a increasing problem in our society. Fifty years ago a typical grade school classroom had maybe one or two obese children. Usually so few in number that they were simply referred to as the "fat kid" and every one knew who they were talking about. Today, more than two thirds of children are overweight and an unprecedented number are seriously obese.

Farmboat aims to turn back the clock on childhood obesity by providing an engaging interactive education program to teach children and adolescents about healthy lifestyle choices based on nutritional natural foods and exercise.

Kids Teaching kids: Our goal is to create a mentorship program that will inspire kids to teach other kids. A peer to peer approach will empower energetic youth with leadership and motivational experience while inspiring positive lifestyle choices in others.

Kids look up to other kids (young kids often do as the older kids do). Teaching kids how to share information about the virtues of healthy lifestyle choices is the fundamental core of our program. Our markets provide access to healthy local food and our traditional maritime delivery methods provide lots of opportunity for exercise.
